Adele at Brit Award 2016

Adele awarded the Best British Single award and Brits Global Success, and perform in last stage at concert 2016 Brit Awards, singing one of her favourite hits "When We Were Young".

Coldplay opened Brit Awards 2016 with their Hits “Hymn for The Weekend” accompanied by a series of colorful flowers that glow on stage.

The audiences also feel the party more with falling paper flowers when they appear on a separate stage in the show.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who performed his chart topping singles Love Yourself and Sorry, won best international male.

Chris Martin and his colleagues won nine awards, although the figure does not mean anything when compared to singer Robbie Williams, who won 17 awards (12 as a solo vocalist and five as personnel boyband Take That).

British singer Adele stole the show on Wednesday evening at the 2016 BRIT Awards in London, making a triumphant return to the star-studded ceremony as she picked up four trophies, including the coveted "album of the year" award.

Adele's "25" album missed out on a Grammy nomination because its November release date made it ineligible for this year's awards, so the BRITs gave the British songtress her first major award show recognition for her third studio album, which became the best-selling album of 2015.

For the 27 year-old, it was a poignant return to the O2 Arena. It was Adele’s emotional performance of Someone Like You at the 2011 Brit Awards which propelled the singer to international chart dominance.
One Direction, who are officially on hiatus, picked up best video for the space-themed Drag Me Down.
As it stands, her total of four awards is equalled only by Blur, who won the same number in 1995 for their album Parklife.

Adele became more emotional as the ceremony continued, bursting into tears after accepting the global success prize - which recognises success overseas.

"I got really lost for a while and I didn't know if I'd ever come back," she said, referencing the writer's block that delayed her much-anticipated third album.

"For you all to be so kind to me is so nice."

Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who performed his chart topping singles Love Yourself and Sorry, won best international male.

"Life is a journey," he said. "Everyone has their ups and downs."

"Man, I'm shaking right now," he said as he took the stage, thanking his fans for their support after a couple of years where he appeared to go off the rails.

The awards have come under fire for not representing non-white artists, just as the Oscars ceremony has. Black British singer Laura Mvula said she would not attend the ceremony, citing the lack of diversity.

Barbados-born Rihanna marked her first performance on British soil since 2012 with a raunchy performance of "Work", her new song with Drake, which featured a surprise appearance from the Canadian rapper.

There were also performances on the night by Britain's James Bay, who was awarded best British male, and Justin Bieber, who was awarded best international male. Bieber performed an acoustic version of his song "Love Yourself" with James Bay before running onto the main stage behind a ring of fire to perform his hit "Sorry" with a troupe of backing dancers.
